North Florida's best kept musical secret!
Established in 1986, The Tallahassee Civic Chorale is a nonprofit, non-audition Tallahassee based community chorus consisting of 50 to 60 singers organized in traditional choral fashion.
The Chorale is open to anyone in the Big Bend community and Tallahassee Community College students may take the Civic Chorale for college credit. The Chorale is also proud to sponsor a music scholarship for TCC students. If you are interested in this scholarship, please contact the president of the Chorale at sing@civicchorale.org.
The Chorale performs three major concerts annually. Musical selections range from classical composers such as Bach, Vivaldi and Mozart to modern composers such as Copeland, Vaughn Williams, Andrew Lloyd Weber and local notables such as Dr. André Thomas. Our concerts are open to the public and free of charge.
We also share our love of singing with the community through performances at local events such as the Winter Festival and at nursing homes, retirement centers and other settings for those who are unable to attend the large functions.
Chorale Community Members
Dues are $35 for community members, $10 for TCC/FSU/FAMU students not taking the class for credit, and free for TCC students taking the class for credit.
Community members can now also choose to register for the whole year and pay $90 for all three sessions (Fall/Winter, Spring and Summer).
You can fill out your registration information early by downloading our Registration Form, printing and filling it out, and sending it to us at the address below, or you can bring it to registration, the first night of rehearsal. We will also have blank Registration Forms available during the registration period in Room 165.
Tallahassee Community College Students
-
Since 1998, the Tallahassee Civic Chorale has been affiliated with the Tallahassee Community College.
However, the Tallahassee Civic Chorale is open to all singers in the community, as well as to all
students attending TCC. An audition is not necessary when entering the Chorale at the beginning of
the semester. The concert season's beginning corresponds with the start of the Fall Semester at TCC,
and ends after the end of the Summer Semester. Rehearsals for the Fall/Winter Concert begin at the
start of the Fall Semester, rehearsals for the Spring Concert begin at the start of the Spring Semester,
and rehearsals for the Summer Concert begin at the start of the Summer Semester.
-
Tallahassee Community College students receive 1 hour of credit as an elective for singing in the Chorale.
To enter the Chorale, TCC students must sign up for
course # MUN 1310, College Chorale,
at TCC registration.
-
NOTE: in addition to registration through TCC, TCC students must also register with the Chorale at the
beginning of the semester. Chorale registration is free to TCC students taking College Chorale for credit,
and $10 for TCC and other college students not taking College Chorale for credit.
-
Community members (those who are not students) must register with the Chorale at the beginning of the
semester, but do not need to register through TCC. Cost for community members is $35 per semester or $90
for the whole year, which includes registration for Fall, Spring and Summer concerts.
-
Prospective Chorale members can register by downloading the Chorale
Registration Form, printing and filling it out,
and sending it to us at the address below, or you can bring it to the first night of rehearsal.
Alternatively, you can fill out the registration form when you arrive the first night; we will have blank ones.
We ask Chorale members to arrive at around 6:30 p.m. on the first night of the semester to allow time for
registration. We begin rehearsal on the first night of the semester.
